FULL RÉSUMÉ
My acting and voice over experience has allowed me to participate in many first rate movie projects dubbing the voice of great characters, such as Esmeralda for The Hunchback of Notredame, Jessica Rabbit for Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, Rosie the Robot for The Jetsons, and many more, as well as being the spokesperson for great companies like Sprint, Sears, One Touch, Mervyn’s and more. Dubbing and directing has become an extension of my stage acting and directing career.
I have worked in these features, video presentations, and/ or bonus and promotional materials for DVD and Theatrical release in one or more of the following capacities: Translator of Subtitles, Translator & Adaptor for ADR, Script Supervisor & Editor, Dubbing and/or Casting Director.
Translating from English into Latin American Spanish has been part of my life since I was old enough to read a book in either language. I was born in Mexico City, graduated from Art College in Whitby, Canada and I have lived in South America and the Caribbean where I became familiarized with the various cultures and dialects of the different countries, which allows me to present a truly neutral translation. Although I have been living in the USA for more than 20 years, I keep close ties with clients, friends and family in many Latin American countries and Spain, therefore keeping my Spanish fresh and up to date.
The Importance of a Good Translation –
A mistake that many companies do is to outsource their Spanish translation works to the company offering the cheapest rate or giving it to someone that casually speaks the language and it is rare that these cheap companies and casual speakers can provide accurate and appealing translations. Worse even, some companies are even using automated translation tools that only deliver disastrous results.
Outsourcing a Spanish translation is not like outsourcing the manufacturing of a product. Spanish is a complicated and beautiful language, and doing a Spanish translation is a form of art, which requires a perfect mastery in both languages, in order to not only translate the words, but the intention and the idea of the original work, this is particularly important in creative endeavors.
